Werner's Nomenclature of Colors, first published in 1814, served as a classification guide before photography became commonplace and was used by Charles Darwin during voyages on the HMS Beagle. These 110 colors, arranged here in the order presented in the book (whites, greys, blacks, blues, purples, greens, yellows, oranges, reds, browns), are brought forth from the natural world and from aged and yellowed pages to digital form, and given new life.
